The Las vegas Hilton is OK--it's an older property and geared more towards the convention crowd (it's located right next door). The rooms are OK, a little too dirty for my taste. The casino is small and old, however the sportsbook is alright. The restaurants are also OK, they have an Italian place and a Bennihana. I do believe it has a tram stop (I have not been for about 3 years). I would also not go walking around there at night, pretty creepy. The only reason I have stayed was because of a convention. My suggestion to you would be stay somewhere on the main strip--you will waste all your time going back and forth on that stupid tram.

The Las Vegas Hilton has just received a substantial overhaul that has vastly improved what was at best a B-level property. The entry, the lobby, and the main casino have all been remodeled, several new restaurants have been added, there's a new lounge, and several big name headliners performing regularly in the showroom (Barry Manilow, Reba McEntire, and Brooks & Dunn). The rooms themselves have not been substantially upgraded but they are clean and comfortable and if you get one facing to the West in the North or South Tower you'll have one of the best views of The Strip in town.

And yes, the monorail does stop right out front - $5 for a one way ride or $15 for an all-day pass.

The Hilton is at the very end of the strip but the new monorail runs between there and the MGM grand, was a short trip and not too expensive and it makes stops along the way. Best advice though is to get a 3 day pass so you can get back later

You can buy passes on the monorail. There is a stop right at the Hilton, and it will take you down as far as MGM Grand.
