I have dropped out of high school because of too much pressure and drugs, and now i am 16 and feel completly stupid because every one else has an education and im just sitting home watching TV. and recently i have decided to get my life back together. I wanted to learn SOOO bad that i even watched National Geographic Channel and took notes like i use to do in school. and since i am craving an education, my mom has set me up with an "american school" its a homeschooling course. and i can have my high school deploma in about 2 years. that totally cuts the time in half for a regular highschooler. and my dipolma can be eccpeted in thousands of collages. so heres my question, did i do the right thing when i dropped out? should i try go back to school even tho my parents told me they wouldnt pay for me to go back?

Well, I don't agree with the dropping out part; everyone has to deal with their own, difficult problems in life, and running away is never the best answer. BUT, I applaud your decision to try to straighten things back out. If your parents dont want to pay to send you back to school, relax. Homescholing essentially gives you the same education, the only difference being the pace and the competition. Get your degree, and you'll still be able to do many things in life. I'm 16 too, and the thing you have to realize is that every decision you make will affect your life, whether it's a short term affliction or a long term one. Good luck with things, I hope everything turns out good for you!

If you get your HS degree, GED and keep getting an education, then you're doing the right thing. But dropping out is dumb. You need to turn around your life. Watching TV and taking notes ain't gonna do it. Talk to a counselor at your school about how to proceed, whether to go back or pursue it on your own. Kick the drugs and grow up.

Yes you should go back to school. Most school districts have programs to help people like you to re-enroll after dropping out. If you're 16, then I'm sure they would help, just look up the school district main office number in the phone book. If you go to a public school, then money from your parents should not be an issue.

I was very sick in high school, and dropped out as a result. I realized that I wasn't going to get a good G.P.A. due to my illness. I got my G.E.D. and went to college at sixteen.

If I were you, I would get your G.E.D. or diploma whatever way you can, take the S.A.T. (there are community education courses that you can attend to help you prepare,)and apply for early admission to college. You might surprise yourself by attending college before or at the same age as your peers, even without a high school diploma (in the case of you getting your G.E.D.)

There are no short cuts in life. If need be get a part time job and put yourself through school. Minimum requirement these days is high school. Think of your future. Think of yourself. Where will you be in 20 years if you do not? Homeschooling? No, do it right. It may be hard but I promise, it will pay off.

Take the homeschooling course and stick with it and after you are succeeding, approach your parents again. They probably feel that going back to learning is enough of a stressor for you to cope with right now. See how you do - this is a challenge to be overcome so you can go and do something with your life, and look back with pride on how you pulled things together. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
