I hope not for Portugal/France's sake. I can't believe he's still involved with WC2006! Is it him? (I'm listening to Univision on the radio....)

Nope Jorge was the one that did the US-Italy. I thought the (many) incompetent refs were sent packing after the first round because the reffing has improved so dramatically since the 1st round ended.

masterrat: I've seen enough of your prior responses to know you just don't like the US, so it seems obvious you thought Larrionda did well because his bigger mistakes in that match were hurt us.

Yes, you are right.. and I am watching the game right now.. he has done a great job

A lot of people in the US didnt like his performance, but as an outside party I can say it was under par.. but not terrible. The game went out of control.. and the only thing he could do was give cards. The problem were the players.. both teams were playing a very physical game... and the ref was calling everything

a bad ref? Portugal vs Neathelands

No, its not the same person.
this is Jorge Larrioda, form Uruguay.
The one who reffing Italy-US was Medina Cantalejo from Spain, which was the same on reffing the France - Brazil.

You are right... is the same guy. He also participated in Portugal - Angola; Togo - France.

Sometimes FIFA surprise us with bad referees... remember the Ecuatorian guy (Byron Moreno) that did the Italy Korea?

Larrioda is one of those refs that likes to blow the whistle and give cards out because just to get face time onTV or call attention on himself. Don't be surprise if he affects the game.

yea i think so! and the good thing about this game is that France has alot more yellow cards than Portugal so when France does something really stupid (which they will) some of them are going to be OUT! hahahahahahaha lol
