I've been thinking about getting my licence to bartend but I'm not sure it would be worth leaving my job financially. Anyone know what bartenders (in general) can expect when they first start out? I live in DFW, Texas.

I bartended at a hotel bar and had a great time, granted you do deal with drunks sometimes but for the most part I had regulars that made the job more enjoyable.
Girls get pretty good tips I made killer cash when I was bartending, I didn't go to school for bartending I was trained by the bartender that worked there before. Some places like to train you themselves instead of you going to school.
I would suggest if you can try working on a Friday and Saturday night and see if you like it, go check out a couple bars and see if they train you or prefer you to go to school and if you like it then you can decide weather or not it is worth quitting your job. Good Luck!!

It depends on where you work and in what industry. they do make very good money. The classes are about 400 dollars to take and it takes 5 days here.
