She is unemployed and a single mom who pretty much lives off of her family, should I bring it up? I could really use the money.

Actually it sounds like you are out of luck...unemployed...single Mom...she has no cash flow....sit with her one day....tell her you understand her position and that you can wait until she is back on her feet till she has to give back the money....but personally I would say you can kiss the money goodbye

Get over it!!!
You have lived 3 years without the money, get real. Do you truly think it would do any good to bring it up? I doubt it. So just chalk it up to experience.
In the future don't loan money you can't afford to loose.

I think you should just write off the $300. If she hasn't paid in this amount of time, I doubt she ever will. I wouldn't loan her any more money.

As you mentioned, she lives off her family, who I would assume is not doing well either. If they are then ask for money.

Otherwise, forget it.
