Most girls have started their period by 16 but in a few cases where there isn't a problem it can come that late. If a girl hasn't' started by 16 it's a good idea to get checked. My biggest concern in this case is that she had one already but none since. This definitely requires some investigation. It could be just normal for her but could also be the result of some kind of nutritional lack,a genetic abnormality or possibly something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome ( lots of info on www) All these thing require treatment so encourage her to talk to her mom and schedule with someone who specializes in women's health issues. Good luck

She is in the upper age bracket, but could still get her period. I would just advise her to visit an OB/GYN and get checked out if she's got concerns. Heavy exercise regimens, poor diets, even stress can disrupt or delay menstrual cycles, and the same type of things can delay the onset of a regular cycle. This is pretty common among girls engaged in highly competitive sports like gymnastics or cheerleading, by the way, so it probably won't be unusual to the physician if she's worried about that.

is she underweight?
getting your period later than the age of 16 is fine, because bodies are not the same and mature into puberty at their own rates, but if she's had it before, then maybe something is wrong. talk to her. ask if she's concerned, notice if she's underweight or not. maybe talk to her parents or doctor if you're really concerned (and if something IS wrong, you really do have to speak up for her).

Yes, you get your period when you are between the ages of 9-18. she has plenty of time to still get hers. Her body is different. She will get it soon.
