This isnt serious but Diphenhydramine has a drowsy effect. The box has this label to prevent magnification of the drowsy effects of overdosing.

Diphenhydramine CAN cause death, and it only takes around 800 mg(I might be a little high on that number, it's been years since I had it explained to me.) It also accumulates in the body and takes a while to be flushed from the system.
I am allergic to yellowjacket stings and my reaction causes me to become slightly mentally disconnected (VERY much the same as getting high). The only medication I had near me one time was some childrens Benedryl elixir and I took a swallow (about a teaspoon), while my sister drove me to the hospital. When we got there the only amount I could remember was the amount originally in the bottle and when asked how much Benedryl I drank, I said 4 oz. The Dr. on call never bothered LOOKING at the bottle (which we had with us), he just decided I had overdosed and tried neutralizing the Benedryl that hadn't been absorbed by my body. Needless to say, I was in pretty bad shape by the time my parents got there to take me to a different hospital which promptly gave me an injection of diphenhydramine. The point of my story is that YES it IS a dangerous drug and should be treated as such.

As long as you don't exceed 400 mg/day you should be okay, but I would stop taking both for 24 hours, and then resume with one course of treatment.
As always if consult your docotor or pharmacist for more details.

SEE a DOCTOR!!!
oh, and, next time you get bitten, get some spirits of amonia and dab a drop on there. It reverses the acid in the bite. Forget all those expensive lotions and rubs.

I don't think its serious. People who responded are basing their advice on fear.
My suggestion would be to go to the Benadryl site, and send an e-mail to them asking for advice.

Don't use them together anymore! You are at risk of overdosing on this particular medication. Contact your dr. to see what they recommend. Chances are you will be okay, just don't take any more today.
