Not being happy isnt usually grounds for a refund. - Why arent you happy, and how long have you had it?

If there is something wrong with the car then you may be able to reject it under the Sale of goods act, however don't accept offers of repair as it will most likely prevent you rejecting it later.

You are not always entitled to a refund so talk to trading standards first and be prepared.

Well, for new cars, NY State has a "Lemon Law" that allows you certain recourse. And most new cars come with manufacturer, and sometimes even dealer, warranties.

For used cars, some manufacturer warranties may still exist if the car is within its original warranty period. Again, some dealers also warranty used cars -- mostly 30 to 90 days.

For used cars purchased through private deals, you may be SOL unless you can prove in court that the seller knowingly sold you a car with a defect that you asked about. An example might be that you asked if the car had ever been in an accident and the owner claimed, "Never," and then you find out it had. Shame on you for not checking Car Facts first if that's the case.

There is a 72 hr lemon law! Check into that. No dealer will admit to it but it is a federal law! No automotivr sale is complete and binding whithin 72hrs. If you waited too long then you have to sue them for a breech of contract. If you can proove they did.
