I want to be an archaeologist. I am thinking about going to my local collage (which does not offer a degree in archaeology) and then going to another school and major in archaeology, since there aren't any good achaeology schools in my state. What should i major in at my local collage? I would like to be finacialy stable before i move somewhere else and major in archaeology. Would history be good?

What I am doing is I am getting my basic classes for it and take them at school near by. That way when I get into the major classes that deal with the archaeology degree I want I can just transfer my classes up there.

Anthropology, possibly environmental science. Be warned, there are VERY few jobs for archaeologists, especially one with just a bachelor's degree. Try environmental science and you might be able to work in that field (and either freelance as an archaeologist or work with a company that does both.

Anthopology or Classics is close to archaeology. It's hard to be financially stable when your major is a liberal arts.

History or anthropology would be good. Anthropology may be an easier transition though.
