Why does the president live in a White House? Why not live in a bright color house, like red, or blue, or pink

I am not sure, but pink house would just be wrong!! But I could live with a purple house, that would be weird too.

I'm sure that it can be any house, just remember that allot of presidents live in that house and white is a neutral color.

wasn't thomas jefferson's house yellow and still called white house? thought i read that somewhere..............m
