Right after he tells me he is gay or straight, I will want to know if he likes blondes, brunettes, or red-heads, skinny, medium, or fat, tall, average, or short, and who's on top.
Really. What difference does any of it make. I especially wish the gay pride people would stop saying, "We sleep with the same sex, now treat us equally!" I'll treat you equally when you stop telling me your sexual preferences and habits.

That is a good question.
I don't want to know a thing about any politician's private life. However, if a congressman comes out of the closet, whether or not I'd vote for him depends on a couple things.
1) If it was his first time running for office, then the answer is no.
2) If he was in office before, then it would depend on what kind of job he did in his other terms and who is running against him.

It depends on how important HE/SHE and HIS/HER campaign make it.
Any person who makes it his main agenda to talk about his sex life is focused on the wrong things. Basically, a congressman or senator should be focused on solving problems, reforms, efficiency in government, and making his/her positions clear to the voting public. The rest is a waste of time and money, and so should be seen as such by voters who want politicians to use money wisely.
I don't care much about what his sexual preference is, just like I don't care much about what his/her sexual position was last night. But I do expect him to avoid conflicts of interest and not abuse the power of his/her position -- which means you don't fool around with interns or people on your staff, because you have a power hold over them (this for example was part of the issue with Clinton-Lewinsky -- claiming that it was a failure in judgment doesn't help, you don't want failed judgment on your resume nor any person who excuses such in his actions).
So, NO it doesn't matter, except if that politician begins to make it an issue. Likewise I don't care if he/she is of a certain ethnic group, but it does matter if she does not see herself as american first, or he doesn't see himself as responsible to the citizens of this nation (assuming we are talking of a USA politician here). Otherwise, it has to matter in those cases. All actions have some consequence, some more than others. The job has responsibilities, the more the politician lives up to those, the better his chances. The rest is propaganda.

Boy Scouts are going to bend over for the gay foyer, pardon the pun. in the event that they don't, the gay foyer will do what prepared Jew lobbies do and that's to set up boycotts and use their get right of entry to to the media to smear the corporation so their investment dries up. The Boy Scouts ought to have held quickly, caught to their values and not even entertained the gay lobbies stupid concepts of variety or political correctness interior the 1st place. the only factor that the Boy Scouts can do at this element is be to furnish to pay off the gay lobbies with some donations so that they are going to circulate away and attempt to tension another corporation into tolerating them. the difficulty is, the gay foyer has already infiltrated maximum different classic agencies such because of the fact the NFL, the Methodist church, Disney topic parks, the well-known public college device (by ability of ability of "No place For Hate") and ninety 9.9% of the media so the Boy Scouts are between the final carry outs.

While his sexual life may not be important to voters, it could greatly impact his political stand on some issues, and if that is the case, then I think voters should know. Also, the gay community would probably want to know, to know they have come congressional representation (not to say that they all have the same stand on all issues, but it's like women like that there are women ni congress because they see things from a womens prospective, same goes for some minoritie races and religions).

If my congressman or senator were gay, I would want to know. It would matter to my vote. They have compromised on their lifestyle and they would compromise on their responsibility to the people they represent.

I don't think they should hide it, for example take their partner to state dinners etc. I think they should be honest, so probably i would know about it. I know that most of the congress people & senators are probably hetero because they have wife/husband. I think it's important for gay people to be visible to help make it safer for those who feel they cannot come out in society for fear of rejection. So i think elected people should be open about their orientation.

I don't feel like it would be necessary for me to know my senator's sexual orientation. Would I want to know? Eh, I guess I might want to know due to my own natural curiosity. But would the information play a factor in how I vote? Absolutely not.

No, it would not affect my vote. I believe in nondiscrimination.
I would not care if they disclosed this fact or not. That is a matter of personal discretion.
