The 'M' in ATM already stands for machine and the 'N' in PIN already stands for number. Also, when referring to a bank vault box you can rent, it's called a SAFE deposit box, not SAFETY.

LOL. I also get annoyed when people say Hot water Heater. Why in the heck do you have to heat hot water? It is a water heater, not a hot water heater!

You are absolutely right ... but if this kind of things bothers you now (and I assume you are under 40), you are going to need tranquilizers later in life!

I play Yahoo! dominoes and gin. The thing that gets to me is how illiterate people are when they chat and spell: be you wit dat my bro?

I be have taco soon, be good eatin'.

And lastly ... did you know that there is an "ATM" that has nothing to do with a "machine"? At least not an inorganic machine.

Best ...

Nope, not a big problem for me...everyone I talk to says "ATM machine" or "PIN Number" (even the people at the bank!) and I'm ok with it. Sorry you have to deal with such crap!!

Those are cases when the acronym's for a set of words have become a word for themselves. It's never bothered me to hear those things. Now, when someone says "pizza pie", THAT I find annoying!! LOL!! We each have our own annoyances!

no it's nesscesary to the lingustics of the fact to say "let's use the automated teller machine machine" or "what is my personal identification number number"

Do you see why? otherwise it'd be too confusing.
