Yes it is normal. When watching the videos or movies on the video ipod, it uses more battery energy as opposed to the mp3 songs. For instance, when you watch a few videos and then you decide to listen to some music, you will notice that the battery life will go back up because the music doesn't use as much battery life to operate as opposed to executing music videos, video podcasts, and movies.

Get a Creative Zen Vision: M instead if you want to watch video.
I just went cross country east and west and my son and I watched a movie each way and almost an hour of short videos. We got over 2 1/2 hours of video playback on a single charge with charge to spare.
I haven't tested it but Creative claims 4 hours of video playback and Apple iPod claims 2 hours. We definitely exceeded the iPod 30GB player claims.

yes, mine does that too. dont use the backlight and the battery runs for days, downside is u cant watch videos

Switch to rechargable batteries as they last longer, norm batteries do not last long in anything

you should change the battery (it's rechargeable, right?). it tends to get old and runs down fast. buy a Li.Ion battery (i guess it's spelled that way), if you can find one. anyway, change it!
