From your question, I assume you are in college. Many students are unaware that their college offers career counseling. Consider going to academic advising or the counseling office of your school. They will have career inventories you can take that will help you pinpoint your interests.

Also, from what little you told in your question, it seems you are somewhat business oriented, but want to work with people in more of a helping capacity. In Holland coding, your personality would be an "S" for social (in this case, social means helping people, not just liking to mingle) and a bit of "E" for enterprising, which is working with people to influence them. All of the occupations you described fit this type. Your being a business major isn't that far off, but you are more likely to like marketing than accounting, for instance. Something in social work or being a lawyer for a nonprofit might fit you, too.

Again, going to the counseling office at your school will help iron all of this out. Oh, and not to worry about being "too old" to not know what you want to be when you grow up. Most of us figure it out only to re-evaluate it again after a few years. Life is about growing and changing. You're on the right path. A counselor might be able to give you the tiny bit of help you need to get you out of your rut. Try not to think that you are making a "mistake" as much as you are figuring things out. Knowing what you want for your life takes time. Granted, changing majors often costs money. So figuring this all of this out sooner rather than later might save you some cash as well as time.

Hope this helps!
Nicole

~So what makes you think you will end up doing something you like. At 22, you'd better make a decision on what you're going to do, not on what you'd like to do. The world doesn't owe you a living, and it sure as blazes doesn't owe you a good time. You chose business. Live with it and get a job or change your major and start over, but don't expect mom and dad to pay the freight.

You are okay. I was 29 before i found my 'calling' I worked in IT and Finance before then, I would advise you to get as much experience in whatever field you find yourself. Keep an open mind it will all come together. I always wanted to be an artist, and I was not a routine kind of person.

find things that interest you. different types of people you enjoy working with. the only other way to figure this out is by doing a whole bunch of different jobs to figure out what you DON'T want to do in life. pick something you find interesting and explore that subject. there are various fields that can accept different kinds of work experience but if there's something you are really intrigued by, make sure you get proper education, certification or expereince to be able to work in that field.
