Since I am a soldier and currently deployed I spent my fourth of July in Iraq guarding local nationals (Iraqi's) do work on our base to make sure none of them were trying to draw maps or plan out where to mortar us. To make the experience better it was about 120 degrees when I was finally done with that I took a well needed shower since I was drenched in sweat watched a movie. To make matters even better I asked a friend to trim my hair for me well they decided to cut about six inches off (my hair was about to my butt now its a bit past my shoulders) lets just say I was not as thrilled about it as they were.

We went to The Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Town Center where there were fun things to do and eat and see. The kids had a blast! They did just about everything there except get their faces painted because the line was over an hour and a half long! We were there from opening time until about 2pm, then we came home to eat lunch. We soaked hot dogs in beer to give them extra flavor (yummy) then grilled them. The kids also chowed down on Cheetos and soda. For dessert we each had a slice of triple chocolate bundt cake. It was delicious! (Had to workout extra today to make up for it!)

It started raining around 8pm, so the fireworks were canceled. Denver did fireworks though, after the rain stopped around 10:30pm, and we were lucky enough to see some of those.

I wrote about it on my blog, and even posted pics, in case you're interested.

Ours was SPECTACULARLY BOOMING!!! We dressed up and went out for dinner... We live in Oahu, Hawaii... so.. we caught the fireworks at Schofield Barracks Army Post... then we saw the Pearl Harbor fireworks as we drove to Hickam Airforce Base for their fireworks show (we sat on the hood of the car for that one) They were firing them from 50ft away and my son kept looking back cause the boom felt like it was coming from behind us... so, then, on our way to the Marine Corps base in Kaneohe for their late show, we caught the fireworks off Honolulu... It was great cause we drove in a convertible. So,that's five shows... but we saw plenty more in between drives... It was the first time my son had seen fireworks and the look and smile on his face was so beautiful and captured the exact reason that I am proud that my husband is a soldier and also why I decided to become an American citizen. Don't get me wrong, I love my Mexico, but I also love America just as much!!! On our way home we turned on the radio, which was playing patriotic songs all night long!!! To top it off, we stayed up til midnight to watch the "Star Spangled Banner" play on TV before the channels go off air. It was the best night we had together as a family... since my husband is redeploying to Iraq in a few weeks... we won't get to do this for another 2 years... My son loves him and always recognizes him cause he's always in uniform. When we go on post, he calls every soldier "Da-Da" cause they all wear the same uniform... he gets confused. It's so cute... I hope when he growsup he can be proud of his Dad and be as patriotic as we are so that he can pass his love of freedom to our and his grandchildren...

I had a horrible one. All I did was sit here, do nothing. I couldn't pop fireworks because of the county fireban and we didn't even BBQ like we normally do. It was just like another day.
