You can call an exterminator. But seeing as how ants are living, breathing, thinking and FEELING creatures. I believe there is a better.. more natural way.

Find the food source and remove it. Ants do not hang around your house because it's decorated nicely. They're there because of food. If you can keep things a bit cleaner... and find the food sources they're feeding off of. They will live your house naturally.

Although, unless you're literally covered with ants. I don't really see them as that big of a problem. They will mostly just clean things off of your floor and counter tops. Having no intention of harming you. Please keep that in mind ( depending on the kind of ant ).

What type of ants are they? You need to find this out and find out where the ants are going and what they are being attracted to. If you can remove or eliminate what they are attracted to, you can get rid of the ants. Some ants feed on sugars, others do not. That is why it is important to know what type of ant you have, so you can get the proper bait.

Another thing I would recommend that is very important in preventing insects from entering your house would be to cut back any plant material that is touching your house. If you have any tree branches or shrubs touching the house remove them as these can serve as a 'point of entry' for ants. They will use the plants to crawl from the ground, to the tree/shrub, then into your house!!

If you have a very large problem, and can't seem to get rid of the ants yourself, I would suggest you hire a pest control company. Some of these companies offer a one-time service, or you can hire them for as long as you like. The products they have are professional-grade products, plus you'll have somebody that can probably find out what those ants are up to, and get rid of them!

You have to control what's going on outside as well as inside. I just moved into a new house a couple of months ago, and ants were raging all over. We installed ant "traps", these black, semi-flat traps that draws the ants in as well as their eggs.

Outside, you can spray ant killers inside ant mounds and ant killing dust around the house, especially around windows, doors, and the foundation.

If everything else fails, call an exterminator in. It hasn't gotten that bad yet at our house.

Hope that helps!

Spray the ants with WD40 and light them on fire. any ant who goes down into the hole will set all the other ants on fire. Goodbye ants.

Terminix or this stuff you can buy at home depot, its this thing that you put into the ant hill if you can find it, it attracts ants and they die when they go to it.

Lemongrass or citronella oils are harmless to us and the environment and deter ants. They also smell nice, but don't use too much!

Try mixing some boric acid (you can get it at Walgreen's, I think it's for your eyes) and sugar together and put in around doors, countertop seams, etc.
