I was wondering, why is the shuttle launch causeing it to make a turn on takeoff to get upside down, i know they shot rockets from it before hand but shouldnt NASA have known which direction the shuttle would have to travel and made up for it so when it takes off i can just go straight over the ocean and already be upside down instead of turning on liftoff

The shuttle rotates during take off to help with getting through the atmosphere.

Every shuttle launches like this. It's not an error.

It's called the 'roll program' and that's the way every shuttle has been launched. They have their reasons for doing that, among them I think is easier communications.

Also once they are 60 miles up, just before they jettison the liquid fuel tank, they do a 180 degree roll so they are once more 'right side up', if there is such a thing in space!

They could have built a new launch pad facing another way, but it was deemed cheaper and easier to use the old Apollo pad and just program the shuttle computer to turn the vehicle just after launch. It does not cause any problems and is easier than rebuilding the pad.

The shuttle is programed to do that. Besides, once they are airborne, what difference does it make to the astronauts if they look upside down to us? I'm not sure it is correct to think in terms of up or down once you are headed to, or in, space. The concepts of up and down are 2D in a 4D environment.
