I know I asked this before but I still don't understnad why people are blindly against it.

1) Its been proven this war wasn't about oil
2) They did find WMDs in Iraq
3) As a superpower it is USA's job to liberate the iraqi people from an insane dictator.
and for people who saying that we shouldn't get involved in other country's business, that is a little selfish. You have to remember if it wasn't for another country getting involved in our business we may not exist as a nation today.

"1) How?"
gas prices, and Iraq is getting ready for selling thier oil. I heard that by 2015 they will become one of the top oil-sellers.
"2) The weapons were REMAINS from 1990, unusable and NOT the weapons we went to war for"
And the weapons could kill
"3) More people have died under US attack than from Saddam crimes"

Yes, that is the fact that freedom doesn't come free. Look how many people died fighting for freedom in other countrys. Its not a smooth path.

"3)What about the oppressed people of China? or North Korea or Iran or Syria or Zimbabwe? Should the U.S. liberate them? Where do you draw the line?"

So basically you want USA to start a world war now. YOu want US to free everyone that once or either none at all.

US negotiates with NK. Problem is they could nuke japan since they have a crazy leader

Iran- large country. May be a possible war if they continue with the uranium.

"3) US should watch their own damn business. You have enough problems in your own country."

Yes we should've said the same during teh cold war, world was I, and world war II?

Thats your logic? Since we have problems in our own country we can't help outside countrys? we have to become a utopia first?

"I am and will always be against the war because they are killing innocent civilians causing them to rebel and defend themselves by attacking us Americans and killing innocent civilians here and those who are fighting there in the war!!! And you know what, the Iraqi's dont have anyway other than suicide bombing to protect themselves because they don't have the weapons and power that we have..."

BS, BS, BS. The insurgents are islam-fascist from Iran, Syria, and other middle eastern countries. They are not from Iraq. Ask any Iraqi how much they hate these insurgents that TARGET CHILDREN, WOMEN, AND INNOCENT CIVILIANS.

In war, accidents happen. Innocent people do die. Thats how it'll always be. US isn't targetting these "innocent people". They are targetting insurgents who believe that they are soldiers of Allah and must kill infidels.

"You obviously are looking for the answer that agrees with you. You have made up your mind. However, when you list 'points' it would help if you cited sources...such as 'when' and who' proved the invasion wasn't about oil? Who found the wmd and when were they found? I'm surprised you didn't link Saddam and 9/11 or did you just forget? I have no idea what you mean by your last sentence. Keep drinking the kool-aid. Take care."

how about looking at the oil prices, looking how Iraq is now selling oil. If USA was stealing oil why didn't they steal it from Kuwait?

I just think people hate this war because they hate Bush, and if it was a democrat that started the war then the same people would be for it.

and to that other person who was talking about Kevin and saying how he was a republican before I was born.

You do realize he was writing this stuff to get money? Profitting on "Bush's war for oil"

1. Ok, proven how?

2. Where were they found? To date, there have been no confirmed WMD's found. (Old chemical weapons from the Iraq-Iran war don't count)

3. Actually, it was the people within our country that revolted against their oppressors and started the USA. We declared our own independance, without anyone from the outside helping.

All in all, if our plan was to liberate, then it's done. Now we need to get our troops home and take care of our own country. We have plenty of problems in the US that could be helped with those troops and money. Hurricane Katrina, the homeless, etc...

The war in Iraq was wrong no matter what way you look at it. First of all whether or not it has anything to do with oil remains to be seen. Personally I think that was a motivator. Bush and many of his cronies have a huge hand in the oil business. Yes they did find "WMD's" but they're 20 years old and if I'm not mistaken, they could not be used. And it is not the U.S.'s job to police the world. That's not the message we want to send nor is it a job we should undertake. You're toeing a thin line when you say that we should get involved in other nations problems. Yes in a way that pertains to the U.S. Had France not come in on the U.S. side we would probably still be part of England. However the way we went about it was totally different and only when all other options were exhausted did we go to war. If you look at the facts you'll see that the situation in Iraq is completely different from the situation facing the U.S. 200 years ago. Please do some research to back up you're claims before you compare them to others.

Like Elizabeth Browning once said "let me count the ways"

1. From the very beginning specious allegations were used in our media to indoctrinate the masses( weapons of mass destruction.)
2. Washington knew what weapons Iraq had in their possession because the U.S. sold them the weapons in exchange for oil.
3.After Bush #1's fiasco, oil stopped completely for America, while all other countries were getting all they wanted.( the real motive for invasion)
4. It didn't take a Napoleon to see that this conflict was doomed from the start and wind up becoming a long drawn out affair with heavy losses on both sides.
5.The entire foreign policy was an "ad-libbed" production. When the "big lie" wasn't swallowed as anticipated, they quickly shifted their maneuvers to the old standby "Iraqi freedom" and "Democracy." flag-waving crap.
6. Civil war in addition to the problems already sustained.
7. The war can not be won....Your Generals and congressmen confirm this fact.
8. Only two people think they can win. The moron in the Whitehouse and the Idiot in the Defense Department.

I don't see how so many people have blindly supported it on such flimsy evidence.
Colin Powell didn't convince me one bit that we were in imminent danger, because we weren't.
You could've made the same excuses to justify 100 wars, but why Iraq, why now? We were in Afghanistan, with world-wide support. Why did Bush piss that away by picking the wrong battle in Iraq?
Clever little sayings like "freedom isn't free" just aren't enough. Fuzzy pictures of trailers just aren't enough. There was no hard evidence. Those "WMD"'s that were found were old and unusable and could probably be found in just about any industrialized country in the world, including the U.S.
The evidence was too flimsy from the onset. It just wasn't enough to justify an invasion, particularly one with no plan after ousting Saddam.
Our image is in the toilet. The majority of the world now sees the U.S. as a bigger threat than terrorism. Is that what you wanted? We could have gone about this terrorism conflict in a much smarter and successful way, but in our zeal to avenge 9/11 fear and paranoa reigned supreme and Bush rode that all the way to reelection.
Did you really believe Iraq was on the threshold of attacking us? Seriously?

The reason so many people think its about oil is because it makes more sense than any of the reasons we've been fed by the administration.

1 ) Where was this proven? I don't think that it is, but you saying it's proven doesn't prove it.

2 ) They did NOT find WMDs in Iraq. Santorum was lifting old information that was also sited as being "proof" years ago. Even the DOD and Administration admit these are not the WMDs they were looking for. They were degraded, pre-1991 shells that were no longer weapons grade and were only a threat to people who may have wandered upon them and handled them without gloves.

3 ) I agree that the US should work to liberate oppressed peoples. However, it is not our duty to do it at the expense of our own safety and economy.

I am against this war because it was NOT in the US's best interest. Saddam Hussein, while a horrible human being who did horrific things to his people, was not a direct threat to the US. Remember, generally speaking, it's Republicans that were against "world policing" for the longest time and seem to have only converted to this concept post 9/11.

People don't like the war b/c they are blindly lead by the democratic party who just want to take over office. But the truth is, that the democratic party would do no better if in office. It's sad that a country can't patriotically stand behind a president/government when at war. Instead, everyone is stabbing each other in the back.

The US will pull out when the Job is done. If we pulled out now, everything would fall back to were it was and all of our troops that died would have been for nothing. You idiots don't know how to run a gov't. You'd just rather sit and watch the world run, but it don't work that way. If we(the US) don't show off our military strength, then someone bigger then Iraq or afgan. will come and whoop our @sses. And don't turn it all on president Bush. If congress saw it fit to pull the troops out, then they would have pulled um out.

2) No they didn't (if you believe they did, you should at least put up the source of this information and not just state it)

1) WRONG IT IS ABOUT OIL who told you it was not --once we have our government installed there elected by the people we will control the resources of iraq for 20 years.at a couple of dollars less per barrel we will save billions in the future.
2)the weapons you speak of were burried in the desert and unusable by any military or terrorist group agian where did you get the information which led you to beleive we found any .
When we first over ran military positions in Iraq none were found thats the plain truth.they had no weapons ready to use in defending Iraq at the time we moved through .WHAT makes you think some garbage found buried in the desert is ready to use materials by anyone .it was not an underground storage facility it was a hole in the ground rain water and rusted garbage left to rot in the ground for years .
3)we supported saddam for years why all of a sudden when our oil deals where over did we attack him.
He has been try to prevent a revolution in this country for years he invaded kuwait because they were slant drilling and stealing oil from IRAQ .
IRAQ had a good relation with kuwait till they ignored the Iraqies who had protected them for 25 years and began stealing from them .they set the oil filds a blaze that were stealing the oil from Iraq so why did bush sr.invade because kuwait had deals to supply the us with oil at below market rates .
WE HAVE IGNORED FOR YEARS DICTATORS AROUND THE WORLD KILLING AND HARMING THERE PEOPLE ONLY WHEN IT IS IN OUR INTRESTS TO DO SO have we interviened.
not once have we ever assisted a nation or its people for pure humanitarian reasons .
With most world leaders comeing to america to become educated ,they have spotted the motives behind our involvments and declared us to act not for the needs of the world but rather americas own selfish intrests.

So everybody for this war: enlist. Now. Pick your service. Go. They'll take people into their 40s, male or female.
I've grown weary of the parade of chickhawks all in favor of fighting-if it's such a noble endeavor, then join the military.
Basically, put up or shut up.
None of the reasons given pre-war for going to war have been substantiated: no link to Al-Qeda, no WMDs or programs therefor, no imminent threat to neighbors, no link to the 9/11 attacks. All smoke and mirrors, paid for in American and Iraqi blood.
So those in favor know something I clearly don't. So enlist. See Iraq. Put your values into practice.
