A landlord generally checks your credit history along with how much money you make a month. Some renter require that you make three times more money than the rent itself ( a month). The landlord may also call your employer to ask for verification that you work there. They may also talk to past landlords to see how you left the place and whether you caused any problems while there. Hope this helps
