as yucky and disgusting as this may sound, exercise DOES help ease cramps, plus, it slows your period naturally so it's not as long. even walking around your block is good--just keep moving. however, at night, keep a warm towel or heating pad on the cramped muscle(s); during the day you can take some Tylenol if you want, but not before bedtime.
also be sure that your hips are never over your head--handstands, headstands, hanging by your legs, tipping upside down, are all no-no's--the blood inside of you is meant to come OUT, and when it can't, it goes back IN and can actually be painful, if not slightly dangerous.

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Extend your arms up as high as you can like you are trying to reach the sky and grab the clouds. Hold for 10-15 seconds. It may hurt a little to do this but it is heavenly after you do it though. You are getting the blood flow back through your system when you do this and it releases pressure off of your ovaries. My cramps get so bad that I puke and this always helps me for a few hours then just do it again.

Lay on your back with pillows or towels under your legs. You want to have your legs in a butterfly position feet together sole to sole and your knees apart laying as flat as possible. This takes some of the pressure off.I dont know why it works but it helps a little. It just depends on how long you can stay in that position. Also taking calcium of magnesium during the month and especially right before your period use to help me.

Heating pad with pain killers. If you always get bad cramps, before your period go outside a week before and move the muscles. That will ease cramping.

Also, what I found out that helps me, is to keep my feet warm. Put some slippers on or something. I am not how it is connected, but it helps me. Also you could take some pain relievers maybe. Hope this helps.

You may want to see your oby/gyn. Your doc may recommend extra strength acetaminophen or put you on birth control to ease the cramping . . .
