Hi,

Here are some tips on removing grass/flower stains from washable and dry cleanable fabrics. Read both as there are helpful hints in each. Also, an enzyme cleaner such as Biz would be the best to use. Other laundry products which state they act upon protein stains may be substituted. Use as directed. Some clain that if you put a little Pine-Sol on the grass stains before washing, the stains come right out. I have not tried that yet. Or you can try this too:

Apply a solution of 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cup water. Blot and flush with water. Sponge with rubbing alcohol, blot and flush again with water. Final traces of the stain may be removed by using a bleach safe for the fabric. If using chlorine bleach, mix 1 tsp chlorine bleach with 1 tbsp water. Apply bleach solution with an eye dropper. Do not allow bleach to remain more than two minutes on the fabric. Flush with water after every bleach application. Apply a vinegar solution consisting of 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cup water to remove the excess chlorine. Then flush with water. Do not use the enzyme solution or the bleach solution on wool, silk or spandex.

Washable Fabrics

1. Sponge washable fabric with water. Then sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Do not use alcohol on silk or wool. Dilute the alcohol a lot (three parts water to one part alcohol) for acetate.

2. Sponge with cool water, then work liquid detergent into the stained area. Rinse with water. Let dry.

3. If the stain remains, soak the fabric in a mixture of 1 qt. warm water and 1 tbsp. stain-removing enzyme product for 30 to 60 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and re-launder in hot water, with a bleach that's safe for the fabric.

4. Bleach with hydrogen peroxide as a last resort.

Use RIT whitener or another dye remover/stripper to bleach stains out and put those chemical brighteners back in. This process dyes a fabric white again.

Dry-Cleanable Fabrics

Steps:
1. For best results, take the garment to the dry cleaners as soon as you can. Point out where the grass stains are.

2. If you need to remove the stain yourself, sponge with white vinegar, then water. If that doesn't do it, apply a paste of enzyme product ' but not to silk or wool. Leave on 30 minutes, then blot with a warm-water sponge.

3. Try applying a paste of baking soda and water to the stain. Work in a little white vinegar with a sponge. The bubbling of the chemical reaction may work to get the stain out.

Overall Warnings:
Don't use alkalis such as ammonia, degreasers or alkaline detergents on grass stains. They interact with the grass and can permanently set the stain.

On some fabrics, a grass stain cannot be removed, not even by the dry cleaner.

Best wishes!
