I think I may have a yeast infection. I got a pack of Monistat with a treatment applicator and such. I read that you should not use it if you've never been treated for a yeast infection before, which I haven't. But my insurance will not kick in until September when I get on my husband's new insurance. Should I just use the stuff anyway or spend money on an insured visit to the gyno who's just going to tell me I have a yeast infection? I told my mother what it said and told her I wasn't going to use it and she thinks I might be overreacting. I have the classic symptoms... burning, itching, clumpy discharge, been on antibiotics for the past week, and so on. Will it really harm me if I haven't been treated for it before? Thanks in advance.

The key to your question is the antibiotics, whenever I 'm on them I get a yeast infection. I would use the monistat and clear that yeast infection up or the burning and itching will kill you.

Make sure you have a yeast infection first. It may not be serious but you want to check first.Swing by the hospital if necessary. Some insurance covers the prior six months it just depends on the insurance. Also some clinics offer whats called a sliding scale so you end up paying much less.

Sometimes it can actually make the problem worse. My suggestion to you would be to go pay the money to be seen, and find out exactly what you have. All I'm saying is to make sure you have a yeast infection before you treat one. You could have something else.

I WOULD GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND GET BILLED THEN WHEN THE INSURANCE KICKS IN TELL THEM ABOUT THE BILL AND I'M SURE THEY WILL PAY. IT'S BEST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, BECAUSE LET'S JUST SAY IF YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE A YEAST INFECTION AND IT'S SOMETHING ELSE , IT WILL MAKE IT MUCH WORSE!!!

You have to go to the doctor. You can just make the problem worse and end up paying more.
