ok im asking this again cause i need to know for my class how can a manager deal with the grapevine in the work place, if its not envolving the manager but a couple of his employees, or it is envolving the manager and one of his/her employees and it is something that the manager and the worker shouldnt be doing, and they get caught (red handed), (no this hasnt happened to me) and the grapevine spreads how can the manager or his boss stop it?

Managers cannot subvert or outlaw the corporate grapevine; neither can they afford to ignore it. Managers can use the grapevine to insure more effective communication within their organizations. Check out this website.

In my experience, a good manager or program director should meet with each staff person individually and discuss the situation that is leading to all of the gossip. A warning of termination should be given to each employeee if the gossip continues. It works wonders!

Don't. Grapevine serve no legitimate purpose but to cause discourse among the ranks. If what you hear is not a fact let it go.
