You can freely subsitute the word "babysitter" for Neocon.

Here's how the word can be used in a sentence:

"We babysitters have to compensate for the irresponsible, childish, cynical and presumptuous liberals who act as if the U.S. were an unsinkable ship at which they can just keep attacking with impugnity."

Neo means (New and abnormal) Con means (Conservative)
We use this to describe the people in our White house because as you can see they are not very Conservative with their outrages spending and the are quite abnormal for what true Conservative used to be. They have one goal and that is to take control of everything by any means necessary.

Neocon = neo-conservative, or "new conservative". Originally this word referred to people who were very liberal or even socialist/communist, but who became conservatives over time, as they saw the failure of socialist policies and the success of the market.

Now it just means "I am a liberal and this is a person who I think is really awful".

Best wishes and God bless.

A friend of mine suggests it means the kind of right-winger a liberal wouldn't be embarrassed to have over for cocktails. That's as good a definition as any, since the term has clearly come unmoored from its original meaning.

NEOCON; the "new" conservative, further to the right than Reagan, bible thumping, "in your face" religion, hysterical, nationalistic "you are either with us or against us" mentality, The antithesis to Democratic inclusion and tolerance, it really is quite scary when you think about it.

The term "neocon" (new conservative) is a way of interconnecting the term "neonazi" (new Nazis) with George Bush and the conservative repukelicans in the US and Britain
hope that helps. :-) (In Britain they were called "Torries", i.e. Margeret Thatcher and company.

Neo-Conservative. It's the clever way of describing someone who has latent conservative values and tendencies. This type of person might often appear to resemble a liberal, or even hold him/her self out to be a liberal. Neo-Con! Haven't heard of a Neo-Lib yet though.

I always take it to mean agressive conservatives, who have a hitler like obsession with spreading their ideals around the globe by using military force.

Similar to the Crusaders.

Some say they are former liberals when liberal meant something else.

I see it as new conservative. They say that they want smaller government and less spending but ultimately fund pet projects headed by friends and acquaintances while they try to dictate via religious beliefs that not even those dictating the laws follow.

In short, leadership via hypocrisy.
