I live in the UK and the Mains voltage is 230V and the USA is 120/240V. All you should need is a wall converter to change a US plug into a British 3 pin plug

Yes you can use your laptop anywhere in the world including UK without using voltage converter since all the laptops have automatic voltage adapter, however, you will need a different kind of plug which goes in the power outlet in UK. You can buy that from there and they are very inexpensive.

It doesn't need a voltage converter. You have a UK plug, right? It won't work with the plug on the charger.

i have an IBM notebook that I took ot both the UK and Middle east.

I didn't need to bring an converter. I just needed to buy an set of plugs that plus into American plugs and then into the wall socket. I brought it from pcconnection.

I would call the laptop vendor to check about the converter. Most laptops don't need the converter but as i mentioned above check with the vendor.

You will need a converter there. I bought on last week at Wal Mart for $20. They are in the area of the store where the luggage is displayed.

the UK uses 220v so you will be able to use it but you will need an adapter so just go to an electronics store and buy one of those international plug sets, but remember you can not plug anything that is only 110v into it or you will blow up that item, if you do bring items that are 110v you will need a transformer but i personally would not bother bringing anything that is only 110v.
