What happens if you don't wear a tampon?

Sorry if I sound naive :S

First of all, you can swim during your period and anyone who says you can't is nuts. Second, you don't HAVE to wear a tampon. Have you taken a bath while on your period and seen the water turning red? You won't bleed in the water. Besides tampons can be hazardous to your health.
Swim if you want and have fun. Don't worry--despite what the others say, you won't bleed in the pool.

I have heard that you don't bleed in water but I would wear a tampon, anyway. I was on the swim team and I would just think that I didn't really want to risk somebody swimming in my blood! That's just gross!
Also, how embarrassed do you think that you would be if something was running down your leg! Wear a tampon, you can swim, trust me.

I have no idea why people say you can't. Just as long a s you wear a tampon and change it frequently I do not see the problem. But I think that you should not swim if you have a HEAVY cycle.

Where did you hear that?!? Depending on your age you can use a tampon. Talk to your mom or another adult about how to use them correctly. You may find out you like them better than those darn diapers. They are much more comfortable, and you can't feel them. Meaning you can enjoy just about everything, including swimming!

You CAN swim during your period, however, depending on your age your mother may not want to introduce tampons yet.
