Adoption is an unselfish act of love. Also a win win situation..There are tons of unloved children out in the world. Children that need a home, caring, affection among other things. I have 4 adopted brothers and 1 adopted sister whom I love very much. Although all of us ( and they) know they are adopted. We love, argue , fight she like any other family because we are a family..and as long as when you adopt a child you understand that it will take time , commitment, PATIENCE and lots of love you should have a great family.

Never assume you are infirtile, always use birth control. This is a very hard thing to predict medically. You may have to adopt, or you may be able to have your own child with medical help. Best thing to say to people is that you don't know. Because you really don't. That's the sort of thing that should be kept very private because people don't know what to do with the information and often misuse it with gossip, etc...
If I were you I may even go as far as to say, yeah, I was worried about it, but I'm sure it's nothing. Then people will stop talking about it.
Good luck.

Perhaps people want everybody to be miserable? LOL
This is entirely your business. Stick to your guns.
And not every case of infertility can be "fixed" If you don't want to go to a fertility clinic, to induce lots of eggs to be released, to be extracted, to be fertilised in a glass dish and several reimplanted---all at $5000 per cycle, for several cycles, adoption is definitely the way to go.
I have a medical book printed in 1948. In it, it is advised that if a married woman says she does not want children, that first a complete medical work-up should be performed before referring the patient to a psychiatrist.......that book is nearly 60 years old. It doth appear that the cultural norms from back then are still with us to some extent.

The problem with correcting infertility is that after all the tests and expense, you may still not be able to have kids of your own.
Let's try this experiment. Tell your cousin that you're going to get fixed, but it's going to be expensive and would she assist financially in this goal.
her reaction will tell you how she really feels about this.
If you are willing to adopt, then i say go for it and the best of luck for you in all that you do.

They shouldn't be condemning you for that. There's nothing wrong with it unless you wanted kids and are against adoption. Do you know how many children need to be adopted? A lot.

Well, if you want children of your own, non adopted, then go to the doctor and verify your fertility. That's what you pay them for. If not, go ahead and adopt. People usually have issues with adoption because it isn't "natural".
