I recently started dating a wonderful man and we decided to take our relationship to another level. He hasn't been with a woman in a couple of years mainly because he is going thru a divorce from his wife of 12 years. He has not had a relationship with anyone other then her for that last 12 years. However when it came time to fool around, he was fine until we actually got to the point where we would have done the actual deed. I don't know if its a nervous thing or something he should see a doctor on. He as said that he has had this issue for a while now but he thought it was because he was getting bored with self gratification. I am worried because this is a big part of a relationship and I am wondering if he has some underlying issues.

It could be performance anxiety.

if you are that special to him, he feels that he may be inadequate in your eyes if he is not as accomplished as he wants to be.

Take it slow and easy and reassure him that the time is right and the person is right.

Diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure could be contributing factors. But, if his wife is the only woman he's had relations with for the last decade, I'm more than willing to bet it's nerves. Give the guy a chance.

He might have psychological issues or it might be physical. Have him try Viagra or Cialis; if it's physical, that'll clear it right up. If it's psychological, it won't help much and you'll know that he needs to seek some counseling. Probably not a bad idea anyway, given the marital history.

Best wishes and God bless.

It takes time to perform with a new partner.

When a man is at age 20, youth and horniness smooths things over.

There are a number of possible reasons....nervousness, guilt because he isn't actually divorced, anxiety of making another bad marriage............or a medical problem.

Have him get his butt into a doctor.

Probably.
Men fuss a lot about their performance.

Take it slowly, flatter him a lot.

If that doesn't work, get him to see a doctor.
I do sympathise, though, we just don't have the same pressure on us. makes up for other inequalities though!
