Why was she surprised?

Not so long ago there was a woman who knew and we talk. But when she found out that my parents divorced before I was even born she said surprised:"How come you are so gentle and nice?"
Can somebody tell me why did she reacted like that?

Maybe she has met a lot of people that are screwed up in the head cause their parents are not together anymore~

I have a clue, I've gotten that reaction before. I think it's because people automatically think that people with divorced parents are troubled, alone, and "emo." They assume that if you only grew up with one parent or spent time going back and forth, you felt abandoned and mad with the break-up and therefore mean to everyone else. They also may have assumed that because your parents aren't together, you feel a sense of failure within yourself (even though it's not your fault) and it harbors hostility? I'm not sure if I'm answering this right, but it sounds right. Even though the ideas I've produced are completely alien to me. Oh well.

because she thought maybe you had bitter feelings about ur parents divorce and got screwed up. but the truth is when parents are divorced before ur birth , u just feel its like they were never a couple , i know cause my parents were also

Most people whose parents split are confused and get into bad stuff or their parents don't treat them well so they get away with everything. You obviously have well mannered nice parents and you kept out of bad stuff good for you!

Normally when you come from a broken home, women believe that you will also form a similar family.

be cause some kids that are like that they take over the parents live and they do bad stuff like drugs and stuff like that so she was just probaly curios or something
