You need to check to see if your video card is installed correctly. right-click on "my computer", select "properties", select the "hardware" tab, select "device manager", look for display devices. You may need to reinstall/install the device driver. Good luck.

Usually, to change your resolution, you right-click on the desktop, choose Properties, go to the Settings tab, and move the resolution slider. If that doesn't work, it sounds like you need a video card driver.

Have you recently bought or changed to a new video card? Try running Microsoft Update and seeing if there is any available hardware updates (drivers) for your computer. If you know the brand of your video card (such as ATI, nVidia, or Diamond), you can go to their website and download and install a driver.

Or have you recently moved your computer? Some computers have more than one video slots in the back of the computer, and it's possible that it might have been plugged into the wrong one.

This problem generally ocurs when the video driver(graohics driver) for the video card (either onboard or separate) is not installed properly . Try reinstalling it. And then try to change the resolution and color depth.

Well the ordinary way is to right click on the desktop, click properties and then select the settings tab and all the options you need are there, but i assume you know this if you know its stuck. Try going to your graphics card options and try changing it from there. If you can't do that maybe your built in graphics accelerator is broken or your graphics card.

That indicates that you need to reinstall your video drivers. You may want to consult the manufacturer of your computer on how to do this as there is certain info that you need to know of in advance of installing the drivers.
