Faulk, I can't explain, but Eddie George was run into the ground in Ten. Culpepper has always been up and down. Ron Mexico is a great runner, but also an easy injury. Lewis, well, is near ancient, and McNabb not only got hurt, but had HUGE teammate problems. Shaun Alexander is consistently great, but how many seasons can one person finish in the top 3 in most statistical categories when his competition is just as great and you play a team sport? Must be a curse!

Yes, there is a Madden curse.
2001: Eddie George: Worst season since his rookie days.
2002: Daunte Culpepper: Wortst stat season since becoming a starter in Minnesota.
2003: Marshall Faulk: Worst stat season since Indy.
2004: Michael Vick: Broke leg in pre-season
2005: Ray Lewis: Ravens fail to make playoffs.
2006: Donovan McNabb: Terrell Owens and he injured himself.
The good news though is after they are on the Madden cover, the year after, they greatly improve.

There's definitely something to the Madden curse. Just look at the facts. Marshall Faulk and Eddie George had down seasons, Culpepper got hurt, Vick broke his leg, Lewis didn't make the Pro Bowl and McNabb had his worst season ever. Oh yeah, Alexander lost his starting Pro Bowl right guard, Steve Hutchinson. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Actually it started with Barry Sanders retiring and by some "coincidence" every player since has gotten injured or had their worst year. So I'm saying it's a curse if only because now the players will be believing it is a curse. Can't totally be a curse though because nothing happened to Madden and he was on the cover first and has been on it in the corner.

It was broken a few years ago but it picked up right where it left off last year for sure with culpepper. Im not sure what I think about it. It used to say they would get injured and now its that they will have a bad season. But when a player performs strongley enough to get on the cover it will be almost impossible to match that season. Like, for ecample, if Alexander doesnt re-break his own touchdown record and get the Seahawks back to the superbowl does that mean its becasue of the curse?

I believe in the curse, and believe it will continue until they put Madden back on the cover again. Ever since, I think, 1988 he was on the cover. Then they decided to put players on the cover starting in 2001, for whatever reason. (Rumor has it that Madden was getting too fat for the cover.) The only other option would to just have a cover with no one on it, but that just might make the concequences twice as deadly next year.

A horrible year is defined relative to hopes and expectations.
Injuries are very common in the NFL.
When playing against the best of the best, it's difficult to have a stand-out year.
The Madden curse is superstition; an unamazing coincedence.

If Shaun Alexander gets hurt, no one is gonna do the madden cover anymore, haha. I wish Tom Brady was on the cover so he would get hurt
