two completely different points of view and values. We are staunch allies with Israel, and the middle east looks at Israel as their mortal enemy.

Because the US government is convinced that its version of democracy and values is right for everyone. The US just can't understand that many countries in the world that have fundamentally different ideals to american ones are not always enemies, they are just DIFFERENT. America always tries to impose what it thinks is right on other people turning debates into nationalistic principle rather than the best course of action. Most of the government and especially Bush have hardly ever set foot outside US soil in order to understand the culture and values of other nations. If they did they would realise that most non-Americans believe in the same goals of peace, humanity, rights and respect as the US, we just have different ways of reaching those goals.

Well, perhaps you can tell me who does have the ability to adequately negotiate with the middle east? You appear to have all the answers, so you tell us. For your information bucko, we are not at the negotiation table alone. You scream when we help and you scream when we sit on the sidelines to let you work it out for yourself. So unless you can give out any credible advise or suggestions I recommend you be quiet.

The Middle Eastern, Radical Muslim nations DO NOT NEGOTIATE. It's that simple. They don't. We are infidels who they do not wish to so much a sully themselves to talk to. Working out a peacefuly compromise in such a situation, is impossible. That is why that entire area will NEVER be at peace. They are not capable of it.

Negotiation is not possible with everyone. Just because you WANT to get along doesn't mean the other party wants to get along.

Because what we want isn't somethign they're prepared to give.

We tried for years to nudge Saddam in the right direction.

We also tend to put our own goals, values, and culture before theirs. Of course they're not going to surrender soviegnty & control just because some country across the ocean told them to do it.

Is leogirl really Ann Coulter? Isn't calling someone 'bucko' inciting violence? Anyhow, Bush has said we don't negotiate with terrorists, and since we don't know who they are, we assume everyone is.
