well TTHOOPS1 doesn't really read the question right thinking its Ronaldo from Brazil when you say C. Ronaldo from Portugal.. well Rooney is just all about speed he is highly overrated and C.Ronaldo is a great young player he will mature allot more and be stronger on the ball.. but when you look at Lionel Messi dribble of the ball around players at the age of 18 he is going to get allot better and stronger on the ball and he will become the next great footballer in the world and he will be at his best come WC 2010 south Africa... MESSI MESSI MESSI

Which Ronaldo? If the Brazilian, then no. If Christiano Ronaldo then he's a no too. If you see CR and Rooney regularly playing for Man Utd then there is no comparison - Christiano isn't fit to hold Wayne's jock strap. That team revolves around Rooney and he is capable of carrying it. Ferguson plays Rooney every game no matter what but will bring Ronaldo in and out. The biggest difference between the two is end product.

Messi could be fabulous very soon but probably not quite there yet both physically and tactically. I don't know about comparisons with him and Maradona but he's the closest thing I've ever seen to George Best. And no, I'm not a Utd fan.

So... at the moment I'd say 1. Rooney, 2. Messi, 3. Ronaldo (fat boy or diver).

Personally I think its between Christiano Ronaldo and Messi. C. Ronaldo is flashy and really fast as is Messi, I just think its a shame that Argentina have so much depth because I really would have liked to see Messi on the field a lot more. Once he matures and wins a starting role for Argentina the world will see what a tremendous player he is.

Each have their strengths and weaknesses I guess. Ronaldo's got flashy skills and he's really nice to watch, but Rooney's more of a solid team player despite his volatile temper. I don't know much about Messi though.

For the Best Young Player Award, though - Lukas PODOLSKI!

rooney but he can get wound up really easily and loose his temper and other players are aware of this so they try and get him mad so he doesn't play as well, but messi is also a really good player even though he wasn't on the pitch much when argentina were playing

Messi...and good to luck to C. Ronaldo when he goes back to Man U next season. I'm sure the fans at Old Trafford will welcome him with open arms.

In terms of potential, Messi. In terms of skill, Messi. In terms of honours, Messi. In terms of helping one's team, Messi.

Rooney is a thug, over-rated at that.
Ronaldo is a one trick pony, but so many defenders still fall that one trick.

But Messi is special.
