what does that have to do with teaching?
the bible has a lot of "scientific" claims in it that aren't true. for a while you could be killed for heresy if you said that the planets revolved around the sun, instead of everything revolving around the earth. i'd think pretty hard about what's in the bible before considering it a valid source of any facts.
