Spray on tans(specifically mystic tan) are the way to go...other self-tanners look orangey. If you're not getting results in the bed than you'll only turn red and get burnt if you stay in there a long time. Being pale or spray tans are the way to go. Because my mom has never tanned and she's 50 and her skin is flawless! Tanning bed whores get that leathery skin that's saggy overly-freckled and absolutely disgusting. The downside to mystic tan is that it's twenty bucks and only lasts a little over a week. Make sure you exfoliate before your tan which is just using a body scrub/facial scrub removing the dead skin on your body before you get your spray tan on. Make sure you don't shave your legs the same day you get the tan unless it's been a good 6 hours. But when you first go there they show you a video that will explain this better. You can google mystic tan and on there website enter your zip code and find the closest one to you. A lot of them are available at places where they also offer tanning beds. Anyway, there are two types of Mystic Tan, level 1 would be good for you because it's a healthy glow and looks natural. level 2 is too dark and wouldn't look natural on a fair-skinned person. It only looks natural on hispanic/mixed people to me. Hope this helps. Ooh but make sure you still wear sunscreen after you get your mystic tan...keep that skin smooth and undamaged girl!

Tanning beds will only get you cancer and wrinkles. Try a couple of tanning sprays and see if you like them. Your friends should like you with or without a tan. Some of the tanning products are quite good. Go to the department store and ask them for a recommendation.

Your friends won't care if you're white, that's why they're your friends! Don't go to tanning beds, something that makes you dark in 10 minutes without the power of the sun can't possible be healthy. Sometimes spray on tans can make people look orange, it depends. Just see your friends the way you are, you shouldn't feel pressured to look different.

If you go to the tanning bed every day for 7 days you should see some great results (unless you're SUPER fair skinned--like albino).

I think the spray-on stuff always looks fake-- I can always tell the difference in people who use the beds and people who use the spray on. It's kind of orange-looking...

I actually go to a day spa that provides air-brush tanning. The results I have are really good. For a friends wedding I had it done and everyone told me it looked natural and it wasn't orange and streaky. Some day spas charge you $40.00 which is a really good deal. There are some tips before you get it done. Be sure to exfoliate prior to the visit, shave one day before your appointment. wear loose fitting clothes. After your appointment you have to wait about 12 hours before you shower. And if you use Jergen's Natural Glow lotion, the spray tan can last more than two weeks!

My mother in law owns a salon and I just asked her this very question last night. She said she has not heard anything positive about the spray tans as of yet. They look fake and streaky, even orange. She says the only good one you will get is in hollywood whom do the stars. She suggested a spray on bottle tanner that you do at home yourself. She has several clients much happier with this.

I think you should get a real tan not those fake sprays. Real tans last a lot longer and look better most times. Go to a beach or somewhere. Sit in the sun but make sure you put on some suntan lotion cause it hurts once you get burned and you could get skin cancer. Best wishes.

I like the Jergens lotion that gradually gives you a little color. It's not streaky and it looks very natural. A friend of mine uses some sort of towelette-type things that looks really good on her. I've heard that Mystic Tan does look good but it lasts less than a week.
