I have a 2005 Duratec Focus with an aftermarket Turbo kit, and the past couple of days I've notice that I have a hesitation after I shift up, and it feels kinda like a really sluggish turbo lag when I shift pretty fast. But when I shift it soft it's ok and it reaches rpm's normaly with normal power. Last night I noticed the smell of fuel while I was driving and wasted 3 gallons in 30 mins, So I popped the hood and found that my fuel rail was missing a bolt and there was fuel all around the first cylinder. Could this be what the problem was?

props on the turbo dude. forget you guys who say its not a mustang or its not made for souping up because that is your opinion. he asked if the missing bolt was the problem. im 99% sure it was. just to be sure fix it and re test. see if you still lose gas quickly. you probally will be back to normal.

The correct answer to your question is YES. That was the problem- it was probably sucking a little air when you were stressing it. I'd also check the lines for cracks and bad or stripped fittings.

Laying that aside, what's more important is that you are lucky you didn't have an engine fire. These aftermarket mods are great in theory, but you are relying on them getting the specs right for your engine. Basically a combo of the high RPM's and hard shifting (plus a thumping sound system, I'll bet), shook things loose.

I'm not trying to rip on your car, but frankly a Focus wasn't built to be souped up into something out of "The Fast and The Furious". Even with the aftermarket stuff on there correctly, it's just a matter of time before something major lets go if you are going to keep gearheading it all over town. The car was designed to be an in-town gas miser, and a grocery hauler, not a racer.

the image has been deleted or bumped off! yet from description sounds like a gas connection pipe. there's a gas pump equipped close to tank so this stands out as the probably ingredient the pipe is connecting to. the pipe will be both gas furnish or go back pipe. and if leaking it will be 'cracked' or setting up ( has on 'O' ring seal interior ) failed. in spite of everything it needs to get replaced. if as an get mutually you've lately had artwork accomplished on vehicle or had gas drained? etc chance is that the seal replaced right into somewhat dislodged or damaged on replacing or has not Been totally refitted wisely. in spite of everything it needs to be rectified as quickly a achieveable.
