It sounds like you may have spilt gasoline somewhere and it's igniting when you try to start it.
The alternative is that you have a leak in your gas line that is doing the same thing.
If you don't know how to hunt that down, take it somewhere and get it fixed.

!. Gas flow to your carberator is is being forced to into your motor at too much of a air fuel rate.
2. Your motor is not firing in time and probably needs a new spark plug and the timing of the motor adjusted so its not having too work so hard.Gas gets throgh if its skips time and then sits on the exhaust system.
3 The compression of your motor is bad..if so might need rebuilt, NOTE if its when you pull the cord only and its not back firing when its running,Try not to pull too hard on your pully and dont over prime your bulb. And make sure you have a fuel filter and that fuel is unleaded normal and not hi octane. There shoud be a screw near the carburator and and engine speed adjustment cable. adjust that if its pooping out or sounds like its running to hard..(Idle screw).

Don't pull that cord again. Get it repaired or replace it. That blue flame, and gasoline are a deadly mixture. You could cause much bodily injury and property damage.
