As a dive instructor : i must tell you each student is different . Remember at 6 the child is still growing . The fact she can swim at all should be a thrill .. Don't push too hard or the child could turn away from swimming . The best advice i could give is just encourage and participate with her .

my 6 year old cousin can tread water for about 10 minutes...

but he is a boy, but that shouldn't make much of a difference

one standard applies for all age groups 10-15mins! til they can manage this, they need close supervision and are not to be considered good, strong or reliable swimmers. of course anyone should swim w/a buddy. and be supervised 12 & under.

Maybe she can not hold more than 3 mins.

if you looking to be able to leave her alone in the pool sorry she is to young & would not understand the limits of her body. if you are just looking to allow her to swim in the deep end. that will depend on your rescueing ability if she gets in trouble,
