Landrys! They've got a great location, on the sea wall, facing the Gulf. The shrimp is just great there. If you go down to the Wharf on the east end of the island there are several seafood restraunt there that are all good. They usually have a sign up telling you which boats they bought that days catch off of, and if there are any specials.

La King's is a great ice cream shop on The Strand. Make sure you stop by.

(And while your there, go see the USS Cavala at Seawolf Park north east of the island. It's a fabulous submarine that's being restored by those who served aboard it. Drop by and say hello.)

It isn't Galveston, but you will pass through Webster on your way. (In between Houston and Galveston) Exit Nasa Rd1 from 45, and hit Hans Mongolian BBQ, right next to Garden Ridge on the southbound feeder rd. YUM YUM! Once you get into Galveston, Happy Buddah on 61st is good. There is a place on the seawall with a giant twirling fish on the roof. I forget the name, but stay away!

"Best Food in Galveston"

"This restaurant has the best food in Galveston in my opinion. Service is flawless, music is soft and relaxing. Older establishment in Galveston. I have never had a bad meal at Clary's and we eat there frequently...I highly recommend Clary's."

If you are up for Mexican food, the Original Mexican Restaurant is amazing. Also, there is the old standby Landry's for seafood.
