The tadpole came first. During its development from egg to tadpole to frog, the frog goes through a maturation process that closely mirrors the evolution that its distant ancestor went through. This distant ancestor of the frog was a primitive amphibian that resembled the tadpoles of today.

The old chicken and the egg question. Hmmm
The frog was once a tadpole, before he became a frog.
There had to be a frog to lay the eggs, which hatch into tadpoles.
This is all too confusing for my small mind.
Some microscopic bacteria learned to hatch primative eggs to reproduce and they eventually evolved into amphibians.
God waved a magic wand and walla the frog was born.
