Are there any home remedies for an earache?

I have a burning, stinging, prickly earache. I get this everytime I wear my hearing aid.

This sounds crazy, but have someone blow cigarette smoke in your ear. My grandmother used to do this when I was little and my earaches always went away. I don't know how this works and it seems pretty harmless evein if it doesn't work for you. Good luck!
