Yes. But she's still Egyptian. She's technically an Egyptian-American. That's the weird thing about America. You can be American without being born here or even speaking English. If you have a passport and a citizenship, then for what it's worth, you're American. Which isn't anything like any other country. If I went to Egypt, lived there for years, got a passport and everything, I'd still never be Egyptian.
Just talk to her and tell her how you feel and that you're worried she might be losing touch with her heritage. True Americans never let go of their family's heritage. Look at many African-American families. They've been here for centuries and still keep their family's heritage, culture, and traditions very close to their heart (And even keep the term "African-American' even though there hasn't been true African blood in their family for centuries). She should also consider herself Egyptian as well and try to hold onto certain aspects of that. Language, culture, traditions, beliefs, etc should still stay with her. She's probably just still in the "wow I'm in America" mindset and will come to terms in the future that she's still Egyptian.

If she were to become a citizen of the United States of America, then she would have every right to call herself an American. However, if she is not a citizen, then she should be ashamed of herself for denying her own Country.

She is American. She lives in America, she has an American passport, and the citizenship. Why should it bother you? If she's here, that means she prefers America, so get over yourself and just accept it.

If she wants to classify herself as an American, then just let her. Who is she hurting by saying it? Besides, if anything, it's a compliment that she wants to affiliate herself with America that way.

if she has American citizenship (legal), then she's American!
lighten up. We are the melting pot. Take a look at the statue of liberty and read what she's about.
