Hello, I use Skype for chat in Europe.How in USA?

I tried to offer for chat Skype here, in USA,but always stick with problem, that nobody knows about it.It's true?
People avoid try this, it's so easy and for free

Skype is vastly popular in Europe and is just starting to catch on here in the States.... we expect it will continue to grow. Especially with tons of new USB phones and adapters.

Yahoo Instant Messenger has voice chat capabilities as well.
