why is the law tougher on the men teachers then they are on the women teachers who have sex with students?
I think its unfair, they should be punished equally. women shouldnt get off easy when their just as bad as the men.

Unfortunately the punishment doesn't seem to be the same. The law should apply no matter what. I think it happens more than we know about because I believe that young men don't realize that they are being violated. I was amazed when I checked out online how many sex offenders were in my neighborhood and how many were women! I don't believe in the legal system too much, hell, the guy that killed my brother gets to start his life over at the mere age of 30!

Gender should have nothing to do with child abuse of any knid. But It is a well known fact that the boys are more aggressive when experminting sexually. Their peers also reward them with praise and statis when they brag about being with an older woman. I think even the male judges are more understanding because they remember what it was like when they were teens. I do not think it fair but I can understand how it happens. The schools should be more careful on background checks and do personality profiles to try and weed out petifiles of all genders.

The society still feels that men rule and women just follow. Maybe when women have full equal rights, we'll have equal rights to legal punishment as well.

I think the law should be equal for both sexes. Women tend to be regarded as caregivers and tend to be trusted. They should therefore not take advantage of the position they are in and misguide youngsters. Yes, the law should definitely be equally tough on them.

I agree. If you're a hot female teacher doing a little boy, you're almost 10 times more likely to get your story sensationalized or dismissed with a reduced sentence. I guess girls are seen more as "victims" whereas boys in similar situations are seen as "victims of hormones and circumstance".

i agree with you, it does not make sense at all. i believe it is a mind set that a woman/girl is more fragile than a boy and so the legal system is harder on the male...someone will take this to the supreme court someday, and they still will not be able to answer the question.
