Think of a salad dressing, Italian preferably. There are layers of ingredients such as a layer of oil, a layer of water, and a layer for other ingredients such as pepper, etc...

What ways can be done to separate these layers when taking them out of the bottle, or just separating the layers in general?

Everything has to be settled, seasonings at the bottom, vinegar on top of that, oil on top of that. Use turkey baster or eye dropper to siphon the top two layers out separately into containers and rinse the bottle with water to remove the seasonings at the bottom.

OR

Pour dressing through a sieve to collect the seasonings from the bottom. Let the dressing settle into two layers in container, then siphon oil from top and vinegar from bottom into separate containers.

Simply allow them to stand long enough and then siphon them off.
