The fuse is ok, and when I put wire from the battery to the connections at the door switch it made a sound like a motor running, for a short period of time.

Might just be a burnt out fuse.

If the fuse isn't bad, I'd bet it is the switch on the Driver's side. Both window's wiring goes through the driver's side controls. It's not that quick, you have to get the switch out and check it. One time the wires to the switch were pinched in the door hinge - check that too. Remember when testing that since the polarity gets reversed (to make it go either up or down) there is no frame ground circuit. You can check operation by jumpering the plugs if you can figure out how.

Short of a fuse out, no. Well, you could bash the windows in I guess. But likely it is a burned out motor - around $300-400.

It could be a fuse or the contacts for the windows might need to be cleaned or replaced too. Both of those are inexpensive. It is highly unlikely that its the motor cause it's more than one window.

Sounds like the fuse that controls the electric window circuit blew.

If it is more than one window that won't go down then it may be that the motor for the electric windows has gone bad. This happened to my Monte Carlo and I had to pay almost a $200 bill to have it repaired. Good luck.

Does window motor make noise when switch pressed? With key in on position, but engine off, press switch. Dash lights will dim if power getting to motor, but window jambed. Try both up and down. If lights dim in one position and not another, probably bad switch. If motor spins with jumper when wires switched in both directions (power reversed to raise and lower window) probably stripped gear on motor or lift mechanism.

Nope, not to quick anyways. You have to take the door panel off, and then you have to see if the little plastic gear on the motor of it is stripped, then you have to buy a new one and replace it. I had to do this about 5 times on my crappy ford tempo.
