right thats easy you can use the my account page to close your account when your signed into yahoo.
alternatively just uninstall all the yahoo programs from your computer and stop using yahoo. then after a few months your account is closed permenantly.
in yahoo answers you will see Welcome, your screen name centre top of the screen. now under that is sign out, my account click my account you may be presented with a sign in screen asking for yor password, enter it then browse for close or cancel my account it will be on the folowing page(s).

Hi,
Start -> Run -> Appwiz.cpl and click OK.
Select the Yahoo program you want to uninstall and click on the appropriate button to uninstall it.
Then, go to the following link and sign in with your Yahoo ID and password and delete your account.

to uninstall u need to goto add remove programs u can uninstall the messenger from here.

click this will tell u how to cancel the account.

Do it fast if you feel you are addicted, relax after few days when you finish all your pending work and get little free time you can install again

go to the start menu,hit settings go to the control panel click on add and remove programs ,you will see yahoo,cick on it then cick uninstall.this should do it.
