Technology often can explain things we would have though to be "magical" in earlier times. Can you imagine how the Inquisition would have felt about telephones? Television? Computers? We would have been burned at the stake!

It does make things up. Long time ago people used to believe that our sun was an ideal object. Than - using primitive binocular - they've noticed sunspots. It was hard to explain sunspots on an ideal object: they've blamed the binocular for creating the spots (working not properly). These days, we can say, that quarks are made up by our technology, instruments of observation.
Different example: watching color TV kills your ability to really see colors (that is why old paintings don't move people anymore: they are not sharp and contrast enough!).

Take a walk through your home - look around...Imagine what life would be like if the computer wasn't in so many homes? How about the microwave oven, making cooking take much less time? Your DVD player? How about your stereo/MP3 player? What about pagers and cell phones, OMG!!!??? I think this should help you get a better picture. Also, check out the song by the Judds "Grandpa,Tell Me About the Good 'ol Times".
