Limit the guest list, limit the extra luxuries. Look for packages for photos, videographer and catering. Do anything by hand if you can pull it off or ask for help from friends who are crafty. Flowers tend to be expensive, so if not needed do not buy them. Ask around for good deals, shopping around can really save you loads of money. Look for sales!

It might be tacky but maybe do your own invitations. My husband and I did our own for our wedding and it came out really nice. Just a little imagination and a printer can take you far.

try a simple wedding outside, have guest take pictures or video it's not the money you spend it's the people you share it with. borrow a dress, ask the neighbor for flowers out of her garden and have a pot luck dinner outside and have mom make a cake. about then the only expense you'll have is the preacher and the license and save the extra money for a honeymoon. close friends and family will understand you can't afford a big wedding and will love to help out anyway they can and that way they can be part of it too..

My husband and I spent about $1000 on our whole wedding. I bought my dress used from Goodwill (I spent $13 on it, I think and it's beautiful), bought my veil from another store like Goodwill, my husband's aunt did most of the flowers, we rented a small room in a building to have our wedding in, had a potluck dinner (everyone brings something), had friends of ours sing, I made a mix-tape, my sister did my hair, I did my makeup, I had my matron-of-honor, maid-of-honor, bridesmaid and flower girl wear what they wanted to within reason, my husband bought a suit instead of renting a tuxedo, we got the rest on sale. My in-laws paid for our honeymoon. The most expensive things were the renting the building, the cake and the real flowers. My brother-in-law took the pictures (I don't recommend that though - they looked just like regular snapshots)...

Some preachers won't charge to use the church. But if they do and it's too high. Have it in someone back yard. Food wise, get what you need from Dollar Store or Save A- lot Food Store. Also look at the party supplies at Dollar Store, or Dollar Tree. Or go to the 99cent store.

Only invite your close family and friends. Have the wedding on a Sunday night, and have a friend take the pictures and video.

Just do it your way. For the afterparty invite all your freinds and family around to a wedding bottle party so that they bring all the booze. I am sure they will understand

Go to various churches(ones that have a lot of resources) and ask for their help. Of course, it would help if you have attended or know someone from there.

Keep it simple and elegant--use someone's beautiful backyard with a gazebo, ask if they know any musicians then reciprocate by cooking them something or doing them a favor with what you are good at.
