It's english. The US Constitution was written in it. Besides that common sense fact, many states have already written laws declaring that it is their official language. They have not been overturned by the US Supreme Court.

By the way, the language of business is english as it is for commercial pilots across the world.

The US has no official language.

There is a movement among Conservatives to make English the official language and eliminate the use of all multi-language forms to ease an immigrants transition to the US.

They fail to understand that immigration is a generational process. The first generation may not learn the language well, but the second generation assimilates more, and then the third generation becomes pretty much fully assimilated into the culture. That's how it's always worked.

To date , the USA has no official language !
The Founding fathers were close to enacting an official language , but shelved the issue because of the enormous naval and global economic power of the British empire ...English remains " de facto "until now...
(the proposed official national laguage was to have been - GERMAN !)....The USA is constructively bilingual...Spanish has a vast and growing constituency...and will be a permanent feature of American culture ....No problem for the more intelligent and well educated people....Unfortunately -most are linguistic illiterates !

English, our founding documents are written this language, so by default it's our official language. If you don't speak or read it, use common courtesy and learn it to live here. My people came here and had to learn it to live and work here, so should anyone that wants to take advantage of the freedoms take they sacrificed for. It's a PRIVILEGE to live in this country and learning the language is a small price to pay for it, even if you are just visiting. People shed blood to give us this land so we would have a place to be free from oppression, and learning to speak and read the language is part of be a good citizen.

There is no official language for the country. (American) English is the "official" language that government business is conducted in. Army regulations state that all official business will be conducted in English as do most bureaucratic regulations.
